Dog Gone Good Training began development in January of 2008. It is currently resided in Fort St. James, B.C. where it is licensed through the District of Fort St. James, and is open to any dog and owner; the only requirement is that the dog be vaccinated for DA2P, LEPTO & CORONA and Kennel Cough. Other medical problems also may affect the decision on whether or not I will train you and your dog.

Evaluations are always free!

I currently have one training package available.

The Basic Obedience Private Lesson: The outline for this course is as follows:
Evaluation Appointment: I will come to your house and meet you, your dog and any other members of the household who will be involved in training the dog. This is your chance to ask me any questions that you feel are important about my training methods, prices etc. I will ask you plenty of questions as well, and have you fill out an evaluation sheet. This sheet has a lot of basic questions about your dog, how s/he is disciplined, if the dog was previously trained and what method was used, how much exercise the dog gets on a weekly basis etc. I will also use this time to establish what other goals you may want accomplished with your dog other than basic obedience during training. (ie: not jumping on people, food aggression, etc.)

Lesson One: Lesson one can follow any time after the evaluation. During lesson one I will teach by demonstration the Heel & Automatic Sit. The first half of the lesson is used to demonstrate and answer any questions and the second half is when I hand you the leash and you get the chance to work with your dog. I will follow by and make comments when needed and answer any questions you may have. Remember, during class time is your chance to ask ANY questions you have because for the rest of the week you'll be working with the dog on your own! (You are expected to spend at least 10 minutes every day working with your dog, if you're not, believe me, I will know!) Quite often lesson one has some extra minutes left over because there is no review at the beginning of the lesson so this is the chance to address any other issues you may have with your dog (example: jumping etc.)

Lesson Two: Lesson Two will start with review (Heel & Automatic Sit). I will have you demonstrate how your dog is doing at the Heel & Automatic Sit, and this is your chance to ask any questions you may have come up with during the week. After review, I will teach the Standard Sit and Down from the front and side through demonstration. I will then hand the leash off to you for you to work with your dog.

Lesson Three: Lesson three starts with review (Heel & Automatic Sit, Standard Sit and Down from the front and side) and then I teach through demonstration the Sit from Down and introduce a long line and teach Stay. I will then hand the leash to you and observe you work with your dog.

Lesson Four: Lesson four is the final lesson and, like the rest, will start with review (Heel & Automatic Sit, Standard Sit and Down from the Front and Side, Sit from Down and Stay). The last lesson I will teach through demonstration is the Recall. After you work with your dog on the recall we will set a test date (which must be at least one week after the last lesson date) and I will go over everything that will be on the test with you. If there is time at the end of Lesson Four I will quickly demonstrate how to train either the continental finish or the come around finish (this is your choice).

Exam Day: The exam day will follow at least one week after lesson four and you are allowed a few minutes to warm up and practice first. I will demonstrate what I expect you to do and how you will be graded. Once the exam starts I will tell you which exercises to perform but other than that will not make any comments (unlike during the lessons where I will give more directions and let you know if you're doing something wrong or how to get a better reaction from your dog etc.). The exam will determine whether or not you and your dog pass the course.

If you've complied with everything and have clearly been working with your dog, and your dog fails the exam an additional 4 lessons within 6 months of the last lesson date are optional for free. If you complied and your dog passes but you would like some more one on one work the additional lessons within 6 months of the last lesson date are also optional for free. If you did not comply and your dog fails the additional lessons can be given at any time but are not free.
