Dog Gone Good Training Forum

The Dog Gone Good Training Forum (DGGTF) was built in January of 2008. It's purpose is to provide a non-confrontational environment for dog owners and enthusiasts to gather together and discuss any subject imaginable about dogs, as well as non dog related topics. Those with specific qualifications in any subject involving dogs (example; training, health, nutrition, behavior etc.) are encouraged to join especially, but it is not a requirement. DGGTF is there to provide information to new and experienced dog owners alike.

Though DGGTF is meant to be a relaxed environment, this does not mean rules do not exist and are not enforced. In fact, in order to accomplish a relaxed environment it is important every member (including Staff members) follow these simple rules.

The Forum Rules:

1. No name calling allowed! Please keep things mature and civil
2. If a debate starts in one thread, keep it in THAT thread.
3. Words are NOT censored but this does not mean you're allowed to swear like a trucker. Please keep in mind there may be younger eyes viewing what you write! If you abuse this right, swear words WILL be censored and you will be warned.
4. Please create topics in the correct category. If you are unsure what category to place your topic under, put it in a general bored and if I see fit I will move it to the correct category.
5. No SPAMing. This means no advertising of products, websites etc. unless otherwise allowed to do so.
6. No posting personal information about other members unless allowed to do so.
7. No TROLLing. This means if you are here just to pick a fight or cause havoc, you WILL be deleted from the board without any warnings.
8. Please keep posting pictures to a minimum in one thread. This is out of courtesy of members who may be on a Dial Up connection. If you feel the need to post more than 5 pictures, give a warning in the subject please!
9. NO HOLIER THAN THOU ATTITUDES! This is very important. If someone is doing or saying something you don't agree with, please try to keep it civil and MATURE. Everyone is considered equal. Most often a reason for someone doing something in a way that is considered not proper dog ownership, it is done out of ignorance. Knocking them down will NOT make them change their ways. Instead, try EDUCATING them. This is the number one goal of Dog Gone Good Training Forum; education. If you are caught belittling someone rather than trying to help them, you will be given a warning and dealt with as seen fit.

Dog Gone Good Training Forum has a Three Strikes and You're Out Policy if you are caught violating any of these rules...

Strike One: A warning will be sent to you via PM or E-mail.
Strike Two: Your account will be suspended for a period of time depending on the severity of the situation.
Strike Three: You will be banned from the forum.

This policy depends on the severity of the crime. Depending on what you have done, you may not get a warning or suspension, and go straight to banned.

If you would like to learn more about the forum, keep reading. If you would like to go see things for yourself, GO HERE.

When you enter the forum you will see a list of links at the top of the page, below the forum banner. These are a few options the forum has. The will direct you to the Dog Gone Good Website (here), your profile (where you can edit it), a members list, a page where you can search for information on the forum, help at the ProBoards main website, the forum Calendar where you can add your own upcoming events to the calendar, and an option to log in or out.
To your left you will see a navigation menu with a list of external and internal links as well as the basic "need to know" information links. The external links will take you to any website outside of the forum and the internal will take you to any information that is considered important that has been posted on the forum itself. Under "Need To Know" you will also see a link to the "Forum Index", this is exactly as it sounds. If you were interested in finding information on something specific please check this index first. There is a list of important articles and discussions on different subjects throughout the forum. If the information you are looking for is not posted on the Forum Index it means it has not been posted and/or discussed already and you may feel free to post in the proper category and ask away!
At the bottom of the page you will see the "Info Center". This is an area for general statistics and information about the board and it is updated automatically. It will show you the total number of topics and posts on the whole forum, the last updated topic and who last posted in it, as well as which board it was posted in. There is also a link to view the ten most recent posts to make finding new posts easier on you. This area will also tell you what he newest member registered with the forum is, the total of members on the board (which may be incorrect if any accounts have been deleted and the board had not been refreshed), and how many PM's (Private Messages) you've received and how many are new.
Below the Info Center it will also tell you how many members are currently online, who they are, how many registered members are online, how many Staff members, and how many guests. It will also tell you which day the most users were online.

There are currently TWO staff members working free of pay at DGGTF. The Administrator and a Global Moderator.

The Admin

The Admin is myself, Shara Slorstad (screen name: DogGoneGood). This means that I built and watch over the forum. I enforce rules, maintain the board, fix any kinds of problems that may occur, and control everything that comes into the forum. If you have any problems, suggestions or questions please don't hesitate to either PM or E-mail me. You can PM me on the forum through your account, or click on my screen name and there is an option link there to send me a PM. My e-mail address is dog.gone.good@hotmail.com Another way to get a hold of me and if you feel the suggestion or concern is something the rest of the forum should be aware of, you can post it under the Administration Board.

The Mod

The Mod is Lexie, my good friend from over the years and someone who has helped me on a few occasions when an assistant was needed during training. I respect her opinion greatly, which means other member of the forum should respect it as well. While she is not as educated about dogs as I am, and isn't even a big dog enthusiast, she still appreciates dogs for who they are and has learned enough from me over the years to be qualified as the Mod at DGGTF. She also runs her own online forum (Peace Lovers Forum) which makes her qualified to be Mod on a technical scale.
The job of the Moderator is to watch over the forum and take care of it when I may not be available to do so. If any problems should come to the Mods attention and not the Admin the Mod is to report it to the Admin and/or take care of it. A Moderator has just about as much power as an Admin except for maintenance. They do have the power to ban members, move, sticky, and lock posts.
