Linkin Bark
Stinkin Linkin

I got Linkin in the Fall of 2007 from a young family who no longer had the time that he definitely needed and demanded for. He's a German Shepherd Dog + Boxer and was 8 months old when I got him. He was off the walls hyper, had no manners, no basic obedience and wasn't house broken. I was looking for a young pup to take with me to school that would fit in with my own little family that consisted of Coal, my boyfriend Jared and his cat Polly. Originally I was looking for a female because generally in dogs females and males get along best and knowing Coal's "only child syndrome" history I was hoping to make the transition from a one dog household into a two dog household as easy as possible. I actually first met Linkin before the owners were looking to re-home him and before I was looking for another dog. He was just a young puppy, about 5 or 6 months old when he followed a friend over to our place (we were living at a trailer court at the time and luck would have it Linkin was just down the road). Coal and him got along great and I told my friend at that moment "I'm going to steal this dog eventually". When I saw him months later tied up in a backyard on a rope that was about 4 feet long, attached to a small dog house that he'd demolished, jumping up and down and screaming at the top of his lungs I thought to myself "he needs me".
After his first night home I was starting to regret that decision...
I'd never had a dog before as unruly as he was. I had moments where I'd phone home to my parents, crying my eyes out, completely broken down and nerve frayed because this dog couldn't sit still to save his life and had absolutely NO previous training.
Taking him to Canada West Canine Centre in Salmon Arm, B.C. changed all of that. It was 6 weeks of intensive training that he needed, and needed badly. He excelled greatly in most aspects of the class; especially Tracking, and was the only dog still rearing to go by the end of the 6 week course.
Linkin is now a rather well rounded dog. He has greatly improved in manners and training since that first night I brought him home and I couldn't be more proud. This summer (2008) I plan to begin training him in Agility and I do plan to compete with him.
I would also like to get some sort of Tracking Group started to introduce others into this wonderful past time and to keep Linkin's keen nose in practice.
There are a great many plans in store for this hyper, long legged pup and I believe with all my heart that he won't let me down.
